Central Houston assisted the City of Houston in market studies, passage of tax rebate legislation, and developer proposals for a convention headquarters hotel located adjacent to the George R. Brown Convention Center. Ultimately, this resulted in the formation by the City of a non-profit public corporation to develop the Hilton Americas, as the new 1,200-room hotel will be called. It will open November 2003.
