Central Houston is leading and assisting in re-introducing professional sports into downtown. It prepared market and locational analyses for the proposed NBA basketball and NHL hockey arenas in 1996. Later in the year, it conducted a site location analysis for a major league baseball ballpark for downtown. After assisting in the Proposition 1 campaign and the passage of legislation in 1997, Central Houston assisted the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority with site acquisition and preparation for the Ballpark at Union Station. It assisted with parking, traffic planning and downtown hospitality in support of the opening of Enron Field March 30, 2000. More recently, the organization assists with the financial modeling, site location analysis, site acquisition and facilitation of pre-construction site preparation for the new arena for the Rockets, Comets, Thunderbears and the Aeros.
